Waste-to-energy, UK

In collaboration with this customer, we proudly contributed to the first waste gasification project based on fluidised bed technology. This milestone facility now powers approximately 50,000 homes, showcasing the potential of advanced Waste-to-Energy (WtE) solutions.

Located in the UK, this WtE system processes around 240,000 tonnes of waste annually, generating over 200 GWh of electricity. This is a significant step toward sustainable energy and circular economy goals.

Who says industrial installations in Waste-to-Energy plants can’t be mesmerizing? This project is a great example of what’s possible when smart anchoring design meets the precision of a skilled Rapid Arc Welding (RAW) installation team.

Scope of work

In both 2022 and 2023, our team was deployed to the Plant to support key installation and repair operations using Rapid Arc Welding (RAW) technology.

2022 Deployment:

A team of four, comprising two RAW Supervisors and two RAW Operators, was on-site for 9 days, working in both day and night shifts. The installation focused on the Melting Furnace and Venturi, utilizing two D20 machines.

Upon arrival, the team conducted a thorough inspection of the units and planned the optimal setup for RAW machines and cable routing. They supported the marking process and demonstrated the safety and efficiency of RAW technology through welds, ensuring smooth collaboration with the on-site teams.

2023 Deployment:

We returned with the same team structure for a 3-day repair operation targeting the Venturi and Bullnose. This time, one D20 machine was sufficient, and the work was again carried out across both shifts.

Custom-made V anchors

Custom-made V anchors are precision-engineered components designed to meet specific project requirements in high-temperature industrial environments. Unlike standard anchors, these are tailored in shape, size, and material to ensure optimal performance and durability under demanding conditions.

Their V-shaped design provides enhanced stability and secure fixation for refractory linings, especially in complex geometries or areas subject to thermal stress and mechanical load.

By opting for custom-made V anchors, clients benefit from improved installation efficiency, longer service life, and reduced maintenance needs, making them a smart choice for specialized applications in sectors like waste-to-energy.
