Some projects evolve into long-term collaborations, and this UK Cement Plant is a perfect example. After the first successful demo in 2014, our team has returned year after year to support their maintenance strategy.

Today, the plant runs reliably on a single SpeedBolt® Anchoring System. No replacements are needed, only bullhorns are swapped during shutdowns.

Scope of work

Over the years, the scope of work at this UK cement plant has varied. Some repair goals were clearly defined in advance, while others evolved once our crew was already on site. When the scope unexpectedly expanded, an urgent order for additional SpeedBolts® was placed and delivered within the same week, ensuring the project stayed on track without compromising quality or safety. This is possible thanks to the cooperative work of projects, production and logistics teams.

We’ve maintained a consistent presence, supporting the plant with flexible, responsive service. Most projects were executed with day and night shifts to meet tight turnaround windows. Each shift was led by a dedicated RAW Supervisor to ensure consistent quality and oversight. For this type of installation, the D20 machine was typically used, offering the reliability and performance required for high-precision refractory anchor welding.

SpeedBolt® System

The SpeedBolt® System combines a Rapid Arc Weldable SpeedBolt®, a custom-engineered Bullhorn anchor, and a plastic clip, designed to streamline the installation of movable and floating anchors in dynamic refractory linings. Especially suited for the cement industry, this system addresses the limitations of rigid anchoring, which can contribute to premature refractory failure.

By allowing flexibility and movement, the floating anchor design helps absorb vibration and thermal expansion, reducing the risk of cracking. This not only protects the refractory lining but also prevents alkaline ingress that can lead to steel shell corrosion. The SpeedBolt® System offers a practical solution for extending asset life and improving reliability in demanding operating environments.
